Detailed 15-Day Uganda Adventure Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Pick-Up at Entebbe Airport

Meet our company representative at Entebbe International Airport. You will be given a short briefing about the 15-day adventure tour. After that, you will be taken to a hotel in Entebbe or Kampala to have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2: Travel to Kibale Forest

Enjoy early breakfast at your hotel, then meet your safari guide and start your journey to Kibale. The route will take you through Mityana, Mubende, and Fort Portal.

Along the way, you will see forests, banana plantations, and tea farms. At Fort Portal, you will get a good view of the Rwenzori Mountain peaks.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking & Drive to Mount Rwenzori

After breakfast, go to the Kanyanchu Visitor Center for a briefing about the chimpanzee trek. You will be divided into groups of six people, each with a ranger guide. The trek begins at 8:00 AM and may take 2 to 4 hours. You will spend one hour watching the chimpanzees and taking photos.

After the trek, return for an early lunch. Later, you will travel to the base of Mount Rwenzori. Check in at your lodge or camp, relax, have dinner, and spend the night.

Day 4: Briefing & Hike to Kalalama Camp

Start your hike at the Kilembe Trail after registration and a briefing. You will hike from 1,450 meters to Kalalama Camp at 3,147 meters. Watch for primates like blue monkeys and colobus monkeys and many birds. Stop at Sine Camp for lunch, then continue to Kalalama Camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Hike from Kalalama to Mutinda Camp

Leave Kalalama Camp (3,147 meters) and hike to Mutinda Camp (3,688 meters). The hike starts at 9:00 AM through bamboo forest, steep paths, and past streams and waterfalls. At Mutinda, you may hike further to 3,925 meters for better views. After that, return to camp for dinner and rest.

Day 6: Mutinda to Bugata Camp (4,062 meters)

After breakfast, hike through wet and boggy areas to Bugata Camp. You will walk through tussocks and alpine vegetation in the Mutinda and Namusangi valleys. Enjoy views of Mutinda Peaks before reaching Bugata Camp for rest and overnight stay.

Day 7: Bugata Camp to Hunwick’s Camp

Leave Bugata Camp and hike to Hunwick’s Camp. Along the way, enjoy views of flat rocks, glacial lakes, and valleys. You will pass Kachope Lakes and McConnell’s Prong. Arrive early at Hunwick’s Camp and enjoy views of Mount Baker.

Day 8: Hunwick’s Camp to Margherita Camp

After breakfast, hike through Scott Elliot Pass to Mount Stanley and settle at Margherita Camp (4,485 meters). This camp has rocky surroundings and holds historical importance. From here, you can view Mount Baker and glaciers on Mount Stanley.

Day 9: Trek to Margherita Peak and Return to Hunwick’s Camp

Today you will hike to Margherita Peak (5,109 meters), the final goal of your mountain trip. You need to be fit for this challenging hike. After reaching the peak and taking photos, return to Hunwick’s Camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Descend to Kilembe Ranger Post

After breakfast, descend back to the Kilembe ranger post. Your driver guide will be waiting to take you to a lodge or camp in Kasese for relaxation and overnight.

Day 11: Travel to Bwindi National Park

After breakfast, leave Kasese and travel through Queen Elizabeth National Park to Bwindi. Stop at the Equator crossing in Kikorongo for photos.

You may also drive through Ishasha to try and spot tree-climbing lions. Lunch will be around Ishasha before continuing to Buhoma to check in at your gorilla lodge.

Day 12: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

Leave your lodge and go to the Buhoma sector for a briefing. The park official will assign you a gorilla group to visit. A ranger guide will lead you into the forest to find the mountain gorillas. You will spend one hour with them, watching and taking photos.

After the trek, return to the park office to receive your certificate. Then go back to your lodge for rest and dinner.

Day 13: Visit the Batwa Community & Travel to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, visit the Batwa pygmy community. Learn about their traditions and way of life.

After the cultural tour, continue to Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation. You may enjoy a sunset boat ride before returning to your lodge or hotel near the lake.

Day 14: Canoe Ride & Village Walk

After tea or coffee, enjoy a canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi. The lake has 29 islands, and today’s ride will take you to one of them.

In the afternoon, take a village walk and meet local people who live near the lake.

Day 15: Departure

Check out of the lodge after a heavy breakfast. Today, you will be transferred back to Entebbe or Kampala. You will have lunch on the way, preferably in Mbarara City. You will also stop at the Equator crossing for a chance to take photos.
