Detailed 4-Day Kibale Double Chimpanzee Trekking Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival & Drive to Kibale Forest National Park
You will be picked up from your hotel or Entebbe International Airport by our driver guide, who will brief you on the highlights of your trip. After that, begin the drive to Kibale Forest National Park.
On the way, stop for lunch and enjoy a local dish. Later, continue the journey. By the time the sun sets, you will arrive at your booked lodge in the park for dinner and rest.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking in Buraiga & Bigodi Wetland Experience
Wake up to the sounds of birds in Kibale Forest and enjoy breakfast. Then go to the park headquarters for a pre-trekking briefing. Rangers will explain the rules and why they are important when you meet the chimpanzees.
After being grouped into teams of 8 people, head into the forest. A ranger will lead you to the Buraiga sector and guide you through the thick forest as you look out for chimpanzees. After a while, you will hear their loud calls and soon find them. You will spend one hour watching them as they play, feed, and groom their young ones. Some may even lie on the ground, giving you time to take great photos.
After your time with the chimpanzees, return to the park offices. Your driver guide will take you back to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Wetland with a local guide. Walk through the wetland as the guide tells you about its history, animals, birds, and other creatures that live there. Enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature as you walk. Later, return to the lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking in Kanyanchu & Crater Lake Tour
Start the day with a big breakfast to give you energy for another trek. Go back to the park offices for a briefing and repeat of the trekking rules. Afterward, you will be grouped again and head to the Kanyanchu sector of the forest.
A ranger will guide you as you follow chimpanzee sounds and signs. Soon, you will find them in their natural home. Spend one hour watching them jump from tree to tree, rest on branches, or play on the ground.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, go on a Crater Lake tour in the “Top of the World” area, also known as Isunga. This place has many crater lakes formed by volcanoes. You will enjoy wide views and take photos. Watching the sunset over the lakes is a peaceful way to end the day. Your driver guide will take you back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Departure
On the last day of your 4-day Kibale double chimp trekking to Buraiga and Kanyanchu, have breakfast and check out of the lodge. Begin your return journey with the driver guide. You will stop for lunch along the way, then continue to your hotel or Entebbe International Airport for your evening flight.
