Detailed 7-Day Uganda Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Pick-Up & Transfer to Murchison Falls via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Any trip to Murchison Falls National Park is not complete without visiting the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary—and this trip is no different. From the airport or your hotel, you will be picked up and start the journey to Ziwa. A walk with the rhinos in their natural home is a great chance to see them up close.
Besides rhinos, you may also see other animals like antelopes, waterbucks, warthogs, and zebras. After the rhino visit, continue to Masindi for an en-route lunch. In the afternoon, drive to Murchison Falls National Park. When you arrive in the evening, check into your lodge and rest.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive & Afternoon Boat Cruise
After breakfast, head into the Savannah of Murchison Falls National Park for a game drive with your driver guide. During the drive, you may see many animals feeding or resting, including elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, waterbucks, leopards, hyenas, warthogs, reedbucks, giraffes, and elands.
While still on the game drive, visit Murchison Falls to see the power of the waterfall. After your visit, return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, drive downstream and enjoy a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. On this cruise, you may see hippos, crocodiles, water birds, and other animals coming to drink at the riverbank. After the boat cruise, return to the lodge for dinner and rest.
Day 3: Journey to Kibale Forest National Park with a Visit to Amabere G’anyinamwiru
After breakfast, begin your journey from Murchison Falls to Kibale Forest National Park. Enjoy the countryside views along the way. When you arrive in Fort Portal, stop for lunch, then visit the Amabere G’anyinamwiru caves.
Here, a guide will share local stories that explain how the caves got their name. You will also enjoy bird sightings and beautiful nature around the caves. Later in the evening, continue to your lodge in Kibale for dinner and rest.
Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, go to the park offices in Kibale for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking. You will be placed in a group of 8 and enter the forest with a ranger. As you walk through the forest, you may see other primates like vervet monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, and colobus monkeys.
Once you find the chimpanzees, spend one hour watching them. Take pictures as they play and move around. After the trek, return to the park offices and go back to the lodge for lunch.
Later in the afternoon, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enjoy the views of tea plantations along the way. In the evening, arrive at your lodge in the Ishasha sector, have dinner, and rest.
Day 5: Ishasha Game Drive & Travel to Bwindi National Park
After breakfast, go for a game drive in the Ishasha sector. This is where you may see the famous tree-climbing lions resting in fig and acacia trees. Other animals you might see include elephants, leopards, hyenas, warthogs, and antelopes.
Return to the lodge for lunch, check out, and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Along the way, enjoy the views of nature. In the evening, arrive at your lodge in Bwindi, have dinner, and rest.
Day 6: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Cultural Tour
On this second last day, have breakfast at your lodge, then go for a gorilla trekking briefing and be placed in a group of 8. Enter the dense forest with a ranger guide who will lead you to a gorilla family.
Once you find the gorillas, spend one hour with them as they feed and rest. You may see the mothers grooming their young. This close encounter with mountain gorillas is a very special experience.
After the trek, return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Batwa community for a cultural tour. Learn about their way of life and survival skills. The Batwa have lived in the forests of Bwindi for many years. The visit ends with a traditional dance performance. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 7: Departure
On the final day, have an early breakfast and check out of the lodge. Begin your journey back to Kampala or Entebbe. Along the way, stop at the equator for lunch and a photo break. Then continue to your hotel or Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.
