Detailed 3-Day Kibale National Park Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park
Our driver guide will pick you up from your accommodation or from Entebbe International Airport. After briefing you about the 3-day Kibale tour, you will travel to Kibale National Park, which is about 276 kilometers from Kampala. During this 6–7-hour drive to western Uganda, you will enjoy the views along the way. You will have lunch on the way, preferably in Fort Portal.
You will arrive at Kibale National Park and check in at your pre-booked lodge. Relax for the rest of the day. You can also swim or rest around the lodge. Many birds can be seen in the area around the lodge. In the evening, you will have dinner and spend the night at the lodge.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi Community tour
Have breakfast in the morning and go to the Kanyanchu Visitors Centre by 7:00 a.m. to attend a briefing from the park authorities. With the help of a ranger and a skilled tracker, you will begin the trek to find a habituated chimpanzee group. You may also see other primates and colorful birds, as Kibale Forest is known for both.
Once you find the chimpanzees, you will have one hour to observe and take pictures of them. After the trek, return to the starting point. Chimpanzee trekking usually takes 2 to 4 hours, as the chimps move around a lot. Your driver will take you back to the lodge for lunch. After freshening up, you will go for a community tour in Bigodi Village.
In Bigodi Village, there are many interesting things to do. You will learn how to weave mats, baskets, and other handmade items. You can support the local women’s group by buying some of these as souvenirs. At a place called Rest in Banana, you will explore a banana garden. You can taste bananas and try Banana Waragi, a local drink made from bananas.
You will learn how this traditional drink is made. You will also enjoy local music and dance performances. The Batooro and Bakiga people in the village will share stories about their culture, history, and way of life. You can also go for a nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland, where you may see the great blue turaco, Angolan colobus monkeys, sitatunga, and other animals. Return to your lodge for a good dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru, crater lakes tour, and return to Kampala
Wake up early and take breakfast. Check out of your lodge and meet your driver. You will begin your journey back to Kampala with a stop at Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru and the crater lakes. You will go on a guided walk to explore some of the best natural features in Fort Portal. These places are known for their stories and views.
You will hear local stories about how the Amabere Ga Nyina Mwiru caves were formed, along with the stalactites and stalagmites inside. Outside the caves, you will enjoy views of crater lakes like Kigere. Take photos at all these beautiful places, then continue your journey to Kampala with a stop for lunch along the way.
You will arrive in Kampala in the evening and be taken to your hotel. If you have a flight, you can be dropped at Entebbe International Airport. This is the end of your 3-day Kibale tour in Uganda, the “Pearl of Africa.”
