April is a wet month with heavy rains, which is why it is advised to carry an umbrella if you plan to visit during this time. Visibility and muddy ground may be a challenge, but nothing can stop a determined person.
Just grab your ticket, fly to Uganda, and head straight to Kibale—the doors are always open for you.
The park fees are friendly since April is a low-demand month. Payments are made through the Uganda Wildlife Authority, but note that each activity is paid for separately. Entrance fees are charged according to age, with children paying less and adults paying more.
Are you a bird lover? This is a great time to see many bird species while they are breeding. You may also see migratory birds from other countries. Some of the birds you might spot include the African pitta, Great blue turaco, black bee-eater, crowned eagle, black-and-white casqued hornbill, black-capped apalis, blue-breasted kingfisher, dusky crimsonwing, black-headed gonolek, black-eared ground thrush, grey parrot, purple-breasted sunbird, and many others.
Since it is the wet season, be sure to pack insect repellent to keep mosquitoes away. You are also advised to wear long-sleeved shirts and trousers. Binoculars should not be left out of your suitcase, as they help you see faraway birds and animals more clearly.
A backpack is important for carrying items you may need while hiking. If carrying it becomes tiring, you can hire a porter to help you.
Some of the accommodations available include the newly opened Volcanoes Kibale Lodge, Crater Safari Lodge located along the crater lake with a beautiful view, Ndali Lodge designed in African style to give visitors a feel of traditional western Uganda, and Kyaninga Lodge, a deluxe place with a nice swimming pool where tourists can cool off.
However, during this season, many people may prefer taking a warm bath in bathrooms with hot water.
After resting, you can enjoy a meal at the lodge’s restaurant, which offers both local and international dishes. Other places to stay include Chimpanzee Guest House, Chimpundu Lodge, and many more.
