Park Entry Fees for Kibale National Park – Admission Costs & Permits

Park entry fees are charged according to age and nationality. Foreign residents pay more than citizens, and the fee is valid for 24 hours. Payment can be made at the gate upon arrival using a credit card. To avoid delays, you can also pay before arrival using MTN or Airtel mobile money with the help of agents found in most towns across the country.

Non-resident foreigners pay USD 40 for adults, and children pay USD 20. Foreign residents pay USD 30, and their children pay USD 10. East African citizens are charged 20,000 Uganda Shillings, and children pay 5,000 Uganda Shillings. Students who are citizens pay 3,000 Shillings, institutions pay 5,000 Shillings, and Uganda Wildlife Clubs pay 2,000 Shillings.

The world is changing fast, and so is Uganda. The tourism sector has introduced easier ways for both foreign visitors and locals to book in time. Through the Uganda Wildlife Authority, you can get a permit to show proof of payment. This permit is what you present at the gate when arriving at the park.

Usually, the tour company you book with will pay for this permit on your behalf. It can also be bought directly from the Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters. Note that some activities like bird watching and chimpanzee trekking are paid for separately. Do not worry, as your tour operator will explain everything clearly.

It is important to book early in both high and low seasons to allow proper planning. High seasons are more expensive because many people visit during that time. Low season is mostly the rainy season when fewer people visit, and the park sometimes reduces the fees. However, the park is open all year round.

There are some things you will not find inside the park, so you are advised to pack all the necessary safari items or buy them on your way to the park. These items may include long-sleeved safari clothes, sunglasses, a hat, a rain jacket, gumboots, insect repellent (especially for mosquitoes), a first aid kit, and make sure you know how to use the items properly to avoid mistakes. Also, carry drinks and snacks, especially if you plan to go trekking for several hours.
