Hiking Trails in Kibale National Park – Explore Guided Nature Walks

There are two hiking options in Kibale Forest. One takes two to six days for those who want to hike the whole length of the park.

Tourists who want to pass by and continue their journey to the next activity or place can choose the shorter hiking option. The adventure starts at Kanyanchu or Sebitoli, where you are given a briefing about what to expect during the hike. After that, tour guides will lead you along the trail.

Culture and community tourism are very important, which is why before heading to other places, you pass through nearby villages such as Kikoni, Nyakalongo, and Nyaibanda to meet the local people. They are welcoming, and when you arrive, they show you their art and crafts, huts, and the history of their communities (the Bakiga and Batoro, who speak Runyakitara and are from Uganda).

Like any other activity, hiking allows only six people to take part at once. That is why it is good to book a few months in advance before arriving at the park. The only bad hike is the one that doesn’t happen.

To make sure some tourists don’t miss out, night walking hikes are arranged, especially for those who want to see night animals such as the potto, bush baby, crickets, nightjar, and the hyrax.

The bright, starry hikes start at 7:20 p.m., and after a while, hikers return to their campsites. You are advised to carry a torch and move with an armed guide for safety. These walks are suitable for every tourist since they are cheaper than chimpanzee trekking or habituation.

Day hikes cost 30 USD per person, while night hikes cost more — 40 USD per person, plus a park entrance fee of 40 USD per person.

Some people prefer visiting the park during the dry season when all areas are easy to access. In the wet season, some paths become muddy and hard to pass, which can stop some activities.

But you can visit the park at any time of the year.

A walking experience gives you extra time to take photos or even film the plants and animals, making your journey a memory that lasts.

A smooth trail never makes a strong hike. That is why you have to go deeper to see all the secrets of the area starting from the heart of Kibale National Park.
