Geographically, Kibale stands at an altitude between 1160 and 2607 meters, with features formed from Precambrian rock formations. Some areas also have metamorphic rocks.
In addition, earth movements shaped the hills with hard laterite soils. About 90% of Kibale’s area has red ferralitic soils, while the remaining 10% has fertile eutrophic soils, mostly found on the western edge of the park.
Besides the soils, Kibale is covered with green plants, and the flora includes over 351 tree species, some growing up to 55 meters tall. The geographical coordinates of Kibale are 0°12’ to 0°40’N and 30°20’ to 30°35’E.
The altitude in the northern part is over 1500 meters, in the center it ranges from 1200 to 1500 meters, and in the southern part it falls between 1100 and 1200 meters. The park is also home to rare and endangered timber species such as Cordia millenii, Entandrophragma angolense, and Lovoa swynnertonii.
A large part of the park is covered by grasslands with dominant species like Pennisetum purpureum, Imperata cylindrica, and Cymbopogon afronardus.
The land is known for its tropical climate, which is warm and wet throughout the year. The wet season runs from March to May and from September to November. The dry season covers June to August and December to February.
Since the park is mostly forested and home to many animal species, the daytime temperatures rise to around 27°C and cool down to 15°C at night, making it a perfect destination for tourists all year round.
