Papaya Lake Lodge – Luxury Accommodation Near Kibale National Park

Papaya Lake Lodge is a peaceful place surrounded by green landscapes in Fort Portal, in the crater lakes region, set between two extinct volcanoes. The waters of Lyantonde and Kifuruka lakes continue to flow through the area, showing the beauty of the Mountains of the Moon.

Crafts at the lodge reflect the heart of Africa. Once you arrive at Papaya Lake Lodge, you will enjoy the traditional African art displayed throughout. These are usually made from natural materials such as grass, leaves, and roots. Take some time to take photos of these pieces to keep memories of the true works of art, made possible by Magdalena and Sebastian.

A journey to the lodge starts from Entebbe. It takes about five hours to reach Papaya Lake Lodge in western Uganda. Before entering Fort Portal, take a left turn and follow the dirt road that leads you to the lodge.

If you are coming from Fort Portal, take the Kamwenge road toward Kibale National Park. After 10 km, turn right at a junction marked by a group of road signs. Continue on the same road until you reach Rutete-Rwaihamba village.

Exit the village using the same road, and you will pass a primary school at a T-junction where a signpost will direct you to the lodge.

The lodge offers nine African-style cottages and rooms with English furniture, bathrooms, toilets, room service, and laundry service, among other things. Take a break from the lake and enjoy a meal at the Papaya restaurant, where skilled chefs prepare healthy and tasty meals using either local or international ideas.

The food not only pleases those who love good meals but also satisfies them because it is made using fresh and good-quality ingredients. The locally made dishes include fruits and vegetables with herbs, making the restaurant special. Some chefs also travel and return with new ideas, which they add to the menu.

A swimming pool is also available at the lodge, filled with clean water to refresh every guest. After enjoying the pool, you can relax on the terrace and look down at the lake.

Bars are also open for visitors to feel at home while talking about different topics, especially those related to nature.

Peace is truly felt at Papaya Lake Lodge. Let go of your worries and visit Uganda before you miss the adventure.
